Note from The Pacific Northwest

Heather Wrote:
When we set off from this base camp we will look vaguely like one of those old wagon trains that headed across the United States towards Oregon and will often stop to form a circle, sit by the camp fire and exchange experiences.

And don't forget Washington State ( where I live ), its part of that history too. And don't think it hasn't influenced yours truly...because it did. I've cut my teeth on some strange tales and learned to tell a few myself.

" What kind of tales?" You might ask.

Ever heard of the Donner Party... oh boy, I can hardly wait.

See you at Camp

You know, I saw that show too and all I can say is...one fire pit is not exactly worth a thousand words. I mean, if you were cooking up your nearest and dearest I'll bet you wouldn't do it in the same place you just cooked the dog.

Food for thought.

No pun intended.

Anita, true or not, your version is going to make my hair stand on end. I'm bringing a teddy bear to cuddle.

Now I know I am crazy because my comment is not here either, the one about having read about the Donner Party when Lisa Phoneix wrote about it a couple of years ago. Blogger must have gone down and lost some comments. Bother and damnations.

Hi Heather
I remember Lisa's piece about the Donner Party and it was awesome. I sure do miss her around the place.

And as for ghost comments, I've caught the blogger asking me to put in the verification word three times in a row...sometimes more. But there's no error message so if it keeps asking you're not recording.

Just an FYI

Heather, I've had lots of hitches too, unable to upload pics, etc., and comments fluffing up. Blogger is having a bad hair day, I reckon:-)

Anite Marie! My Husband and I are planning our first trip to the Pacific Northwest this summer! At first we were focused very much on Oregon, you know the coast and all. But then I started messing around on the Washington tourism site and found that there are many more places we are interested in there. We are planning to stay at Lake Quinalt and visit the rain forest and Olympic National Park, then Mt.St. Helens and Rainer, as well as the islands. We have to cram a lot into a week though!
