Sweet Surrender

I think everyone who is coming is here now and hopefully you are all settling into the Gypsy Caravans that surround the Standing Stones. The news is that these caravans are real gypsy caravans and tethered horses will take us to other parts of the Land of Standing Stones when the time comes to move on from this camp. The bad news is that if you planned to go home soon you will have to discard all sense of time and accept that you are here for awhile. When we set off from this base camp we will look vaguely like one of those old wagon trains that headed across the United States towards Oregon and will often stop to form a circle, sit by the camp fire and exchange experiences.

Most days you will receive an email from me and it is up to you whether you do the exercise that is suggested. But I would like folk to participate regularly and there will be group performances where you will be expected to be in the spotlight. Old timers will testify to the fact that harrowing as this may be it was the catalyst for creative development like they had not experienced before. If you feel all of this is a bit much for you at the moment do let me know and you can retreat back to Riversleigh and enjoy the tranquillity there.

There are few of us at Soul Food who are not carrying baggage of some kind. I try to travel lightly but my heart is heavy because of a stone that lies embedded within it. Last year Darryl had a bladder stone and I can tell you it played merry havoc with his bladder. Well the stone in my heart has been there for a very long time. It is an ancient stone. It all began with a secret that I had to keep and slowly calcified until now it is quite large. Only today I was grumbling about not feeling very well. The truth is that the stone was playing up.

Now as I also shared, I went to the Japanese bath-house with a good friend and it just so happened that she was talking about similar feelings. So I told her how I was feeling and had a cry. Carolyn looked at me and told me that I have to do what her naturopath had her do. And, having heard what she did I have agreed that I will do it, blast this stone like the urologist blasted Darryl's stone and move on once and for all.

What I am going to do is sit in my caravan, listening to the sounds of the Land of Stones and the stones themselves and I am going to write letters, using my non dominant hand, to those people who I feel have let me down in so many ways. When I am finished I am going to ceremonially burn those letters. I am going to make a Surrender Box and I will place the charred remains of those letters in the box and bury it here in the Land of Stones.

More about Surrender Boxes

A surrender box allows us to let go of our worries and desires so the universe can take care of them for us. We write down what we want or need to happen and then place the note into a box. By writing and placing our thoughts in the box, we are taking action and letting the universe know we need help and are willing to surrender our feelings. We give ourselves permission to not concern ourselves with that problem any longer and trust that the universe is taking care of it. You may even want to decorate your box and place it in a special place. Your surrender box is a sacred container for your worries. Not only do you free up space in your mind by letting go of our worries and desires and dropping them into your surrender box, but you are giving your burden over to a higher power. Once we drop our worries and desires into the surrender box, we free our minds so we can be fully present in each moment.

Surrendering our worries and concerns and placing them in the hands of the universe doesn't mean that we've given up or have been defeated. Instead, we are releasing the realization of our desires and the resolution of our worries and no longer concerning ourselves with their outcomes. It's always fun to go back and pull the slips of paper out of the box once your requests have been granted. And it's amazing how quickly problems go away and dreams come true when we finally let go and allow a higher power to help us. Source: Daily OM

Think of me and wish me well as I go through this process. I will share my feelings about the process or maybe provide an illustration. It is up to you what you share if you choose to participate in this activity.

This would take some time Charlotte. Much has been written about accessing the left and right brain and three outstanding books for artists and writers are
The Zen of Seeing by Frederick Franck
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards
Writing on Both Sides of the Brain by Henriette Anne Klauser
cheers
Heather

I have often used that exercise from Drawing on the Right Side of the brain, Heather. The theory is that each side of the brain controls its opposite hand - thus the right side of the brain controls the left hand. y using the non dominant hand you force its correspnding side of the brain to work. When right handed people use the left hand it jogs the right brain into coming up with more creative solutions.
My thoughts are with you, Heather. Love and blessings.

Sweet surrender indeed! What a powerful moment when the letters get burned and then buried.

This all makes me miss the desert and my house...let go, be free, let go, be free...

okay, getting ready, the full moon is here too!

Love,
Luna
